Chalker scores 74 in win

CHALKER 74, BEALLSVILLE 0: BEALLSVILLE – The Wildcats won their second straight game and did it impressive fashion with all but 13 of their points in the first half.

Chalker have outscored its last two opponents 104-7 and outgained Beallsville (0-4) in total yardage, 419 to 84.

Logan Regal, who had a fourth-quarter, 85-yard run, led Chalker (2-2) with three carries for 143 yards.

Cody Helmuth had four carries for 110 yards and two scores – both in the first quarter as the Wildcats took a 35-0 lead after one.

Cam Mazzola had two touchdown runs of 5 and 45 yards to account for his two carries.

Dakota Whitt and Gaige Armstrong each had interceptions in the first half.

The win improves Chalker (2-2) and gives coach Bill Bohren 293 career victories in his illustrious career.

ASHTABULA EDGEWOOD 20, NEWTON FALLS 6: NEWTON FALLS – Edgewood (1-3) scored two unanswered touchdowns in the second half to knock off the Tigers (2-2).

Freshman Jordan Edmondson ran for 69 yards for the Tigers and added 56 yards receiving. Braden Bungard passed for 103 yards and had 45 yards rushing. He connected with Colton Hunt for Falls’ only touchdown.

WELLSVILLE 34, McDONALD 20: WELLSVILLE – Wellsville scored 34 first-half points and took advantage of six McDonald turnovers.

Wellsville’s Justin Miller completed 12-of-20 passes for 216 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 59 yards and two TDs to power the Tigers (2-2). He threw TD passes for 43, 12 and 10 in the first half, helping Wellsville take a 34-7 lead.

McDonald fumbled five times – losing all five – and threw an interceptions. Alex Cintron ran for 73 yards and two scores for the Blue Devils (1-3), who outscored Wellsville 13-0 in the second half. Dylan Portolese completed 10-of-19 passes for 164 yards.

SOUTH RANGE 51, MINERAL RIDGE 0: NORTH LIMA – Peyton Remish, Seth Morrow and Trent Harold each had two scores as the Raiders blanked the Rams in a non-conference battle.

Remish started the game with an 8-yard run and a 41-yard interception return in the first quarter for a 14-0 lead.

Morrow had runs of 10 and 29 yards in the second and third quarters, while Harold added scores from 3 and 6 yards out as he helped keep South Range (4-0) perfect this season.

Jared Miller led Mineral Ridge (0-4) with 13 carries fro 63 yards, while he was 8-of-17 for 51 yards and one interception.

JACKSON-MILTON 40, LEETONIA 10: LEETONIA – Jackson-Milton rolled to a 22-0 lead in the first seven minutes of the game and coasted past the Bears (0-4).

Johnathon Voland ran for two touchdowns and passed for 114 yards for the Blue Jays (3-1).

Michael Spencer also had two scores for the Jays and Jimmy Harper ran for one TD.

SPRINGFIELD 28, WESTERN RESERVE 26: SPRINGFIELD – Springfield held on in a back-and-forth battle with Western Reserve, holding off a two-point conversion that would have tied the game in the final 2 minutes.

The Tigers (2-2) led 14-0 before Western Reserve rattled off 20 straight points in the second quarter to take the lead at halftime. Springfield reclaimed the lead, 21-20, in the third quarter with a 5-yard TD run by Brannon Brungard, and they went up 28-20 when Brungard hit Austin Trebella on a 21-yard TD pass with 10:07 left in the fourth quarter.

The Blue Devils (1-3) rallied, as Dominic Velasquez connected with Wyatt Larimer on a 42-yard touchdown pass with 1:42 left. A pass from Velasquez to Adam Gatrell was incomplete on the two-point conversion.

Western Reserve outgained the Tigers, 307-180, but committed three turnovers.

GARFIELD 56, PYAMTUNING VALLEY 6: GARRETTSVILLE – The G-Men scored 35 points by halftime, and 49 by the end of the third quarter. Dalton Fall completed all eight of his pass attempts for 156 yards and three scores.

Fall connected with three different receivers for the scores, including Seth Morgan, Tommy Bissler and Anthony DeNigris. Bissler led the way with 70 receiving yards, while Dalton Michael rushed for 54 yards on four carries and a touchdown.

CARDINAL MOONEY 31, AKRON ST. VINCENT-ST. MARY: YOUNGSTOWN – Cardinal Mooney scored 24 unanswered points to rally from a 16-7 deficit.

The Cardinals (3-1) held SV-SM to 48 total yards while rushing 50 times for 231 yards and three touchdowns.

Trailing 16-7 in the third quarter, Mooney’s Antonio Page scored the first of his two TDs, pounding it in from 3 yards out. Jaylen Hewlett then ran 54 yards to give the Cardinals a 21-16 lead. A Paul Graziano 21-yard field goal and another score by Page put the game out of reach.

The Irish (2-2) completed 4-of-20 passes for eight yards and three interceptions.

STEUBENVILLE 28, BOARDMAN 0: BOARDMAN – The Big Red held Boardman to negative-10 rushing yards. Davis threw three touchdown passes, two of which went to Reeves.

Boardman gained just 101 total yards, with 111 coming through the air. O’Horo went 13-0f-24, but threw three picks. Adu-Poku added 25 rushing yards. For Steubenville, Bernard rushed for 78 yards, while Reeves had 52 receiving yards.

CANFIELD 41, LAKESIDE 2: ASHTABULA – The Cardinals rushed for 315 yards and gained over 400 yards of offense. Jake Cummings, Paul Breinz and Vincent Fiorenza all rushed for at least 74 yards and touchdown.

Cummings Threw and rushed for over 100 yards each. He ran for three scores and threw for another, connecting with Paul French on a 55-yarder for the Cardinals (3-1). Breinz added 95 yards on nine carries and Fiorenza had 74 on just three attempts.

Lakeside’s only points were a fourth quarter safety. The Dragons (1-3) were held to just 124 total yards, including 55 rushing on 25 carries. Loftus went 7-of-14 for 69 yards, while Cortez Vaughn caught three passes for 38 yards.
