League championships clinched
NILES – Chalker wrapped up the Northeastern Athletic Conference Stripes baseball title with a 1-0 victory over Lordstown Wednesday at Eastwood Field in nine innings. Jake Miller, who only threw 95 pitches, had one strikeout and two walks, but was backed up by good defense by the Wildcats (10-7, 8-3 NAC). Jake Bee scored on an error in the top of the ninth. Lordstown’s Dakota Bingham, who had 17 strikeouts and no walks, took the loss.
OTHER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS: Harding boys tennis won the All-American Conference White Tier with a 3-2 victory over Jefferson. The Raiders have a 16-3, 9-1 AAC White record. … Mathews softball won its fifth straight NAC Stars title with a 7-1 victory over Pymatuning Valley. The Mustangs are 17-3, 13-2 (NAC). … Jackson-Milton baseball clinched the Inter Tri-County League Blue Tier title with a 13-7 victory over arch-rival Western Reserve. The Blue Jays have a 14-5, 9-1 ITCL Blue record. … Earlier this week, McDonald clinched the ITCL?Blue softball title, finishing with a 10-0 league record. The Blue Devils are 13-2-1 overall.
