Coates, Richardson advance at nationals

John F. Kennedy junior Jacob Coates advanced to today’s semifinals of the New Balance Nationals high school track and field meet at the Armory in New York City.

Coates stands 21st overall after Saturday’s preliminaries with a time of 7.04 seconds in the boys 60-meter dash.

His semifinal race starts around 11:30 a.m. If he makes finals, that starts at 2:05 p.m.

Meanwhile, Warren G. Harding senior and Syracuse University recruit Justice Richardson ran 7.68 in the girls 60 hurdles – also making the semifinals in the last qualifying spot. Her semifinal is at 11:20 a.m., while the final is at 2 p.m.

Also today, Austintown Fitch throwers Logan Kusky and Brent Fairbanks are in the boys weight throw finals, starting at 12:30 p.m.

In addition, the Falcons 4×800 relay of Anthony Linert, Matt Rozic, Lance Rosko and Craig Schumacher finished 25th overall in the boys emerging elite division with a time of 8:13.76.
