Area athletes garner all-state honors

The Northeast Ohio Baseball Coaches Association recently announced the 2014 All-Ohio baseball teams and three area players received honors.

In Division III, Girard’s Jimmy Standohar and Springfield’s Hunter Snyder were named to the first team.

In Division IV, John F. Kennedy’s Luke Keck was named to the second team.

On the softball diamond, numerous players were honored.

In Division IV, Mathews’ Cheyenne Eggens was named to the first team while Western Reserve’s Aleah Hughes was named to the second team.

Ursuline’s Makayla Shore was named to the first team in Division III, while teammate Macey Gunther and LaBrae’s Emily Dugan were given honorable mention.

Division II honors were given to Taylor Miokovic of Poland (first team) and Rachel Tinkey of Canfield (honorable mention). Also, Austintown Fitch’s Cali Mikovich was given honorable mention in Division I.
