Youngstown East (1-7)

at Warren G. Harding (7-1)

WHEN: Friday, 7 p.m.

WHERE: Mollenkopf Stadium.

LAST MEETING: 2015; Harding won, 45-13.

LAST WEEK: East lost to Canfield, 45-8; Harding lost to Mooney, 35-34.

COACHES: Jerron Jenkins, East; Steve Arnold, Harding.

ABOUT EAST: The Panthers struggled in a 37-point loss to Canfield. East led 8-0 after the first quarter but proceeded to allow 45-unanswered points after that, including 24 in the second quarter. Robert Allen had a 5-yard rushing touchdown, while Leon Bell led the way with 23 rushing yards.

ABOUT HARDING: The Raiders fell behind, 14-0, and then eventually, 35-21, in the loss to Mooney. Lynn Bowden threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Marlin Richardson with just 1:02 remaining, pulling Harding to within a single point. However, the extra point was blocked, handing the Raiders their first loss of the season, dropping them to second in Division II, Region 5. Bowden finished with 187 rushing yards and 104 passing yards.

Villa Angela-St. Joseph (3-5)

at John F. Kennedy (8-0)

WHEN: Saturday, 7 p.m.

WHERE: Mollenkopf Stadium.

LAST MEETING: 2015; Kennedy won, 28-20.

LAST WEEK: VA-SJ beat Valley Christian, 38-0; Kennedy beat Cleveland Central Catholic, 27-14.

COACHES: John Storey, VA-SJ; Jeff Bayuk, Kennedy.

ABOUT VA-SJ: VA-SJ blew out Valley Christian, 38-0. The Vikings have won two in a row, and three out of four, following an 0-4 start. VA-SJ is averaging more than 33 points per game during that stretch, after averaging just 20 points in the first four contests.

ABOUT KENNEDY: After trailing 8-0 after the first quarter, the Eagles managed to pull away from Central Catholic. Evan Boyd ran for a touchdown and threw a halfback touchdown pass to Dan McCartney. Greg Valent was 7-of-10 for 58 yards and a touchdown. Kennedy dropped to fourth in Division VII, Region 25, even with the win.

Lakeview (5-3)

at Champion (4-4)

WHEN: Friday, 7 p.m.

WHERE: Community Stadium.

LAST MEETING: 2015; Lakeview won, 40-14.

LAST WEEK: Lakeview beat Poland, 45-13; Champion lost to Campbell, 32-16.

COACHES: Tom Pavlansky, Lakeview; Nick Wagner, Champion.

ABOUT LAKEVIEW: The Bulldogs moved to eighth in Division IV, Region 13 with a 45-13 rout of Poland. Tony Crish caught a touchdown and intercepted another for a score. Evan Adair ran for four scores and finished with 86 yards. Zach Rogers went 14-of-21 for 273 yards and now has more than 1,500 for the year.

ABOUT CHAMPION: The Flashes lost a tough one to Campbell, 32-16. Champion led 10-0 after the first quarter, but allowed 467 rushing yards on 48 carries. Noah Bayus threw a 48-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Allen. Allen, meanwhile, threw for 153 yards on the night. Jerry Sabo caught three passes for 63 yards.

LaBrae (6-2)

at Girard (2-6)

WHEN: Friday, 7 p.m.

WHERE: Indians Stadium.

LAST MEETING: 2015; LaBrae won, 47-21.

LAST WEEK: LaBrae beat Brookfield, 20-14; Girard beat Newton Falls, 48-24.

COACHES: John Armeni, LaBrae; Pat Pearson, Girard.

ABOUT LABRAE: The Vikings broke a 14-14 tie early in the fourth quarter, as Carlton Brown’s 2-yard rushing touchdown gave LaBrae the 20-14 victory. Brown threw for 193 yards, while Tariq Drake had 65 receiving yards. LaBrae is now ranked second in Division V, Region 17, behind only to South Range.

ABOUT GIRARD: Girard earned their second win of the season, as they pulled away from Newton Falls, 48-24. Mark Waid threw for 426 yards and five touchdowns as the Indians gained over 500 yards of offense. Mike Belcik caught three of those touchdowns as he finished with 238 yards on 11 receptions.

Liberty (4-4)

at Newton Falls (2-6)

WHEN: Friday, 7 p.m.

WHERE: Tiger Stadium.

LAST MEETING: 2015; Liberty won, 63-20.

LAST WEEK: Liberty lost to Jefferson, 28-13; Newton Falls lost to Girard, 48-24.

COACHES: Chet Allen, Liberty; Josh Franke, Newton Falls.

ABOUT LIBERTY: The Leopards allowed 315 rushing yards to Jefferson last Thursday night, in a 28-13 loss. Liberty dropped to eighth in Division V, Region 17, making their last two games absolute must-wins. Dra Rushton ran for 99 yards on 27 carries and was responsible for both scores. Charles Pickard, meanwhile, added 51 yards on 10 carries.

ABOUT NEWTON FALLS: The Tigers dropped their fifth-straight game following a 2-1 start. Newton Falls allowed 426 passing yards and five touchdown passes to Indians quarterback Mark Waid. Newton Falls took an early 6-0 lead on a Bill Wright 28-yard touchdown run.

Mathews (5-3)

at Grand Valley (7-1)

WHEN: Friday, 7 p.m.

WHERE: Mustang Stadium.

LAST MEETING: 2015; Grand Valley won, 28-14

LAST WEEK: Mathews beat Chalker, 34-15; Grand Valley beat Pymatuning Valley, 51-6.

COACHES: John Protopapa, Mathews; John Glavickas, Grand Valley.

ABOUT MATHEWS: The Mustangs pulled away from Chalker, 34-15, after trailing 7-0 in the second quarter. Daniel Canter rushed for three touchdowns and caught another, as he ran for 131 yards on just nine carries. Dillon Canter was 8-for-17 for 179 yards for the Mustangs, who have now won three-straight games.

ABOUT GRAND VALLEY: Grand Valley limited Lakers running back Gaige Willis to just five rushing yards in a 51-6 blowout of Pymatuning Valley. Willis had previously averaged over 120 rushing yards per game in the first seven contests. Eduardo Hernandez needed just 10 carries to get to 131 yards, including three for touchdowns. Grand Valley is currently fourth in Division V, Region 17, two spots behind LaBrae and three behind South Range.
