Lakeview thrashes Poland
CORTLAND — Lakeview moved into playoff contention, and the Bulldogs may have ended Poland’s chances at the postseason with a surprise blowout victory at Don Richards Stadium.
Lakeview’s Evan Adair scored four rushing touchdowns, and quarterback Zach Rogers threw for 273 yards as Lakeview blasted Poland, 45-13.
The Bulldogs of Lakeview trailed 3-0, but after going ahead on a 12-yard pass from Rogers to Tony Crish, they never trailed again in the All American Conference, White Tier victory. Lakeview (5-3, 3-2), which moved into the eighth spot in Division IV, Region 13 with the win, led 21-6 at halftime and forced four turnovers. Adair ran for 86 yards on 18 carries, scoring on runs of four, nine, four and five yards.
Rogers was 14-of-21 passing for 273 yards, one touchdown and zero interceptions.
Poland (4-4, 3-3), which fell to 17th in Region 9 of Division III, lost two fumbles and threw two interceptions.
BOARDMAN 21, URSULINE 14, OT: BOARDMAN — Koby Adu-Poku ran for a 9-yard touchdown in overtime to lift the Spartans over Ursuline in a non-conference clash.
Ursuline tied the game at 14 with 56 seconds left in the fourth quarter as Dakota Hobbs caught a 32-yard pass from Jared Fabry. Boardman (3-5) had the ball first in the extra session got the score from Adu-Poku, who finished with a game-high 129 yards on 35 carries. He also gave the Spartans the go-ahead score in regulation with a 5-yard run in the second quarter.
The game stayed 14-6 before Ursuline (3-5) scored late in the fourth quarter, tying the game with a two-point conversion from Fabry. Fabry completed 12-of-24 passes for 148 yards and two TDs, both to Hobbs.
ERIE McDOWELL 28, AUSTINTOWN FITCH 21, OT: ERIE, Pa. — McDowell stopped Austintown Fitch on fourth-and-1 from 1-yard line in overtime to secure a wild non-conference victory.
The Falcons (4-4) trailed 21-0 to start the fourth quarter, but tied the game with three straight scores — a 28-yard run by Randy Smith, a 59-yard pass from Nate Fowler to Devin Moore and a 28-yard fumble return for a touchdown by Joey Zielinski.
The Trojans (7-1) scored on a 7-yard pass from Levi Becker to Nate Davidson in overtime to secure the victory. The Falcons outgained McDowell, 322-202.
