Grand Valley rolls over Windham, stays perfect in NAC

ORWELL – Grand Valley stayed perfect in the Northeastern Athletic Conference with an easy 41-6 win Friday night at home over Windham (4-3, 1-1).

Grand Valley ran out to a 21-0 lead after the first quarter, and extended it to 35-0 at halftime.

Quarterback Michael McGovern had a big game for GV (6-1, 3-0) with three touchdown passes and 136 passing yards. Eduardo Hernandez ran for 77 yards and McGovern ran for 64. Jake Reichek, Gabe Arsulic and Hernandez all caught two passes for the Mustangs.

Windham was paced on the ground by Jamario Brown with 46 yards and Phillip Maiorca with 39.

NEWBURY 49, CHALKER 28: SOUTHINGTON – Newbury scored 29 points in the second quarter and 43 points in the first half, overall. Newbury rushed for 397 yards and six touchdowns.

Chalker (3-4) didn’t score until late in the first half, as they already trailed by 40 points. Trystan Mollohan threw a touchdown to Jake Bee, as Bee finished with 52 yards through the air.

Newbury (4-3) improves to 11th in Division VII, Region 25 with the win. Johnny Chambers rushed for 262 yards on 20 carries and rushed for four touchdowns. Anthony Harley added 51 yards and a score.

MATHEWS 20, PYMATUNING VALLEY 14, 2OT: VIENNA – Mathews (4-3, 1-1) defeated Pymatuning Valley (2-4, 0-2) in double overtime in a NAC matchup. No other information was reported.
