I see the sheriff's son has been re arrested for a probation violation lets see what happens now. His father it seems can't keep him out of trouble and they say the apple never falls far from the tree. Can you say an avoided drunk driving arrest in Howland a few years back because dad outsmarted the law. Fine man for sheriff cant keep his kid out of trouble and he barely escapes arrests and indictments lets vote for him again democrooks of Trumbull County

Ive cast my last vote in any election. People don't pay attention and get what they deserve. Whoever said your vote matters was a punk. Just like Altiere

Altiere is a sneak and con man. He was convicted of an ethics violation for using campaign funds for personal use. He claims ignorance when he gave those raises then took them away. When he was a deputy he was a union official who advised others to go on strike in 1978. But when his deputies seek raises he fights them tooth and nail. He is a phony get rid of him Trumbull voters.

Trumbull County Politics has reached new lows. Sheriff Altiere’s Campaign takes twisted facts to attack Jim Phillips. Altiere complains that Phillips had to sue him to get what was rightfully his. The reason that happened is Altiere BROKE THE LAW in giving raises then taking them away. After settling the suit Phillips gave back the raise. Altiere claimed he didn’t know what he was doing? The is the standard for him “Doesn’t know what he’s doing”. As Chief of Detectives Phillips Investigated and assisted in the prosecutions of many Homicides, Christina Bish, Charity Agie, Bridget Whetzel , Vedor Prince. He also investigated and assisted in the prosecution of former Engineer Firenzo. (Spelling of names not accurate) Jim Phillips is a True Leader with real law enforcement experience. Tom Altiere has become nothing more than an overpaid landscaper.

Altier will not get in on MY vote. Sign me "Lives North of St. Rt. 305"!!!!!

Make the right choice in Trumbull County voters. The Democratic virus that runs Trumbull County needs challenged. From Ralph Infante in Niles to The collection of unaccountables at the County building. Led by Altiere the con man. Elect new voices new ideas elect Jim Phillips and see how accountability works. Jim is not a mainstream democrat in Trumbull County therefore he has an uphill battle. But you won t be disappointed if you vote for him I know Jim and he is a real law man.

The voting public should also be aware that Candidate Jim Phillips has a plan to appoint former Ohio State Highway Patrol Lt Colonel Bill Costas as his Chief Deputy and a former FBI agent to oversee investigations. Much better than the present people who occupy those positions under Altiere.one a friend who does not even hold a valid certification from the Ohio Police Officers training academy and the other a underperforming chief of detectives.

I don't understand why we are seeing news conferences about ridiculous self promotion of his re election bid and not any concerning the arrest of an unsolved homicide or the rape which occurred last year in Hartford Township. He's had twenty years to solve these crimes and he never produces and you never see this so called sheriff until election time. But the Tribune loves his work and his son apparently is not worthy of writing about either, The Vindicator wrote the article about him violating his probation.And why was one of his Chief deputies asking a Common Pleas judge to write a commendation for his son last week. What goes on in that office.Apparently the real law enforcers are thin there.

Tune in today for the Sheriff's news conference recognizing the agencies Deputies for their "penmanship" and good conduct medals" and next week they are showing the public their new lawnmower and dump truck for the upcoming lawn mowing season. Way to go Sheriff instead of solving crime you re running a lawn and garden business.By the way where is your son going to serve his time for his felony conviction.

In 20 years Deputies have not been recognized for safe driving, solving crimes and rarely for saving lives. Suddenly two weeks before an election the Sheriff is grandstanding with awards for everyone who has driven safely, some who only drive from their house to their court security positions. He gives one for Lifesaving actions, an award that is well deserved, but occurred months ago. This awards program is long overdue however is suspiciously initiated prior to an election when one of the issues is low morale within the department.

Saw the sheriff on tv awarding deputies for commendations. Funny never see him any other time and the people getting safe driving awards all work at the court house. The other man saved a life which is certainly commendable. However that occurred last year and coincidentally he shows up on tv two weeks before the election. Thats him blatant self promotion what about the rate you re solving burglaries to residences and how about those unsolved homicides? Give it up you re pathetic soon to be Mr. Altiere

I have observed and worked with both men, Jim is by far more qualified.

Why doesnt the tribune or vindicator do a better job of following up on these things that are brought up on these blogs. They may be surprised what they find out.

Why isn't there a followup article on the sheriff's son being violated in regards to his probation and why has the hearing been postponed twice till after the election.

Change the situation enough is enough vote Jim Phillips or be hoodwinked another four years Trumbull voters

A point needs to be made regarding the morale issue at The sheriff's office. The Labor Management agreement negotiated by the deputies allows for promotional exams when vacancies become available. This gives long time deputies a chance to climb the ladder so to speak and use their experience to benefit the overall operation of the department. The sheriff has chosen to ignore this and has promoted unqualified people to positions not covered by the agreement.He makes them Captains or majors instead of testing from withinnfor sergeant and lieutenant. Thus the long time devoted deputies become disenchanted and the unqualified get jobs which pay much higher salaries than the agreement positions of sergeant and lieutenant thereby spending the taxpayer money uneccessarily. This extra money could be used to hire deputies to patrol the county. Those that get these jobs made by the sheriff always feel entitled and do nothing except collect 65 k a year or more. ask anyone who works there.

Jim Phillips is a much better leader which what really is lacking under Altiere. Jim ran the show when he was under Altiere and had the deputies respect something Altiere never had. Jim is the type who would immediately take charge of the lack of leadership, and morale. He understands the problems that deputies encounter and be fair in dealing with them. Altiere will tell you want to hear and do the opposite trust me I know I had my run ins with him. He needs ousted he had his chance and failed let someone else invigorate the situation.

phillips has my support,altiere is about 10 yrs beyond his welcome,the guys a double standard nepotistic drunk,pollutician,not a sheriff
