Q3. How much is the tax? A3. The tax is 2.3 percent of the sale price of the taxable medical device. See Chapter 5 of IRS Publication 510, Excise Taxes, and Notice 2012-77 for additional information on the determination of sale price. IRS.gov

Chapter Five [link to ****irs.gov]

So being more curious I clicked on “Chapter 5 Of IRS Publication 510.”

And what do I find under “MEDICAL DEVICES” under”MANUFACTURERS TAXES”?

The following discussion of manufacturers taxes

Applies to the tax on:

Sport fishing equipment;

Fishing rods and fishing poles;

Electric outboard motors;

Fishing tackle boxes;

Bows, quivers, broad heads, and points;

Arrow shafts;

Coal;

Taxable tires;

Gas guzzler automobiles;

and

Vaccines.

IRS.gov I think we have definitely been fooled, if we believe that the Affordable Care Act is all about health care.

when you have a president put into affice by bankers and who also believes he is the unofficial leader of the muslim brotherhood....you get bills like this.

only Doodd_frank is a worse bill in all of history than Obamacareless. two things are now going to determine what kind of care you are entitled to...age of patient and income. the older and poorer you are the worse care you are going to be ok'd for.

this bill is a way to take the money from the poor and transfer it to the rich.

S.uckers!

nortman, it is not the expense of Obamacare. It is an excuse businesses use to cover up their greed. Just as slashing employee hours. Obamacare is and will evolve. Like creating more laws to prevent cutting those hours or what they have done to the UPS.

nortman

Why doesn't someone tell the UPS employees how great Obamacare is now that their benefits are getting cut because of the expense of Obamacare.

Obamacare is good for Americans. No more needs to be said.

The law will just have to be changed that if employers caught reducing hours just to get around doing the right thing then Fines and jail time would be good. Or just make them even if they work 1 minute a week that they do the right thing.

I don't know if it's true that businesses might be reducing hours to reduce their involvement in the program, but if it's true and if more jobs(at shorter hours), do occur, then the employment rate will actually appear to be improving more(more people with jobs).

EVERYTHING affects something...

While Republicans are rarely known for making a whole lot of sense, a tweet I saw from House Speaker John Boehner yesterday really takes the cake. In an apparent attempt to claim that the Affordable Care Act, aka “Obamacare,” will raise health care premiums for Ohioans by 41%, Boehner actually tweeted a link to a story that shows premiums will go down for most people in the state.

OOPS! LOL! Real bright there uh, John Boner!

nortman, Like anything Obama-care is far from perfect. It is a good starting point and obviously is going to need tweaking and tax payer money. Believe me when I say that this year is the first year since the mid 90's that my medical contributions did not go up. As a matter of fact, I got even better coverage. You should have seen our benefits managers face, who is a big Republican, can't stand Obama and dropped f bombs that could be heard all over the offices when the supreme court upheld Obama-care. When asked why all this extra medical benefits that the price stayed the same he replied with a red face, "Its because of the Affordable Healthcare act" LOL! he could not even call it Obama-care anymore!

If Obamacare is going to be so great, why is congress planning on using taxpayer cash to pay for their health insurance? ht tp://w w w.breitbart.kom/Big-Government/2013/08/01/Report-Lawmakers-Congressional-Aides-to-Get-Obamacare-Exemptions

mdvlst, then those businesses should be held accountable. Fined to the point of nonexistence. Then Entrepreneurs with class and dignity could step in and do the job that they can't.

What you say may be true for some, however weekly hours also have grown about 3% since the law was signed.

First off, I support Obama care. However, a lot of universities are cutting the hours of their adjuncts so that they do not need to provide healthcare, making it necessary to hire more people for less hours. While this may not mean job loss, it does mean job-that-can't-pay-the-bills for some people.

Maryland announced insurance premiums up to 33% LOWER than expected. Connecticut's plan includes an insurer that announced it would drop premium costs an average of 36% below its original proposal. Young people in Nevada will be able to buy catastrophic coverage for less than $100 a month. California and New York also have lower-than-expected rates.

Congressional Republicans remained unswayed by being proved wrong once again. They are voting in the House of Representatives this week to repeal parts of the law. It is their 40th attempt to repeal, change or defund the law. The bill is not likely to make it to the Senate.

The law is not affecting job growth. Job growth in industries that have traditionally not provided health insurance for their employees, such as restaurants, was higher. Restaurant sales and employment have increased more than any other retail sales industry since the law was signed, at about 11% for employment and 17% in retail sales, and weekly hours also have grown about 3% since the law was signed.
