NILES - George Teringo Sr. passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. He was 84 years old.
George was born July 21, 1930, in Daisytown, Pa., a son of the late John and Mary Bednar Teringo.
A United States Army veteran of the Korean War, George retired in 1988 after many years of service as a salesman for Continental Food Service.
He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Warren and the Warren Moose.
George was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing cornhole and bocce, and loved watching the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns.
Memories of George will be cherished by his wife, the former Pat Skovran, whom he married on Oct. 10, 1959, and with whom he spent 54 loving years; his two daughters, Kim (Shawn) Boyle of Las Vegas and Debbie (Bruce) Morris of Niles; two sisters, Marge Paully of Warren and Helen Hornak of Youngstown; and four grandchildren, Jeremy Morris, Brittany Boyle, Amanda Boyle and Megan Morris. George will also be sadly missed by the coffee gang at McDonald's and his De Jacimo Golf friends.
Besides his parents, George was preceded in death by his son, George Teringo Jr.; three brothers, John, Moe and Andy Teringo; and one sister, Mary Kosik.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home with the Rev. Andrew Deskevich officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the services.
