In order to be eligible for the home delivered meal service, people must meet the following criteria:
- Be a Trumbull County resident.
- Be 60 or older or the spouse of someone 60 or older.
- Homebound (If a person drives or gets out with others on a regular basis, they would not normally be considered to be homebound.)
- Unable to cook for themselves and not living with family or others who can cook for them.
The Office of Elderly Affairs provides one well-balanced meal per day, five days a week (Monday through Friday except legal holidays) for a donation of whatever a client can afford to pay. This is not a program just for low-income people, it is for all eligible people.
Another advantage of this program is that the delivery person provides daily human contact with the homebound senior. They are able to report when they notice problems or life-threatening changes.
