WARREN - A city man accused of locking a woman and her two young children inside the bedroom of a Sweetbrier Avenue residence on Sunday is being held without bond at the Trumbull County Jail.
Dion L. Bell, 30, 717 Delaware St. S.W., is facing felony kidnapping and domestic violence charges. He was arraigned Monday and is due in Warren Municipal Court Aug. 19 for a preliminary hearing in front of Judge Thomas P. Gysegem.
Police were called to the home around 8:20 p.m. on reports of a domestic incident taking place. A female caller told police that Bell had hit her and that he was not going to allow her to come to the door when officers arrived, a police report states.
Police attempted to make contact with the woman and, after making multiple attempts to knock on the front door, yelled into an open window several times that "someone needed to open the door" or they would "force entry," the reports states.
After waiting several minutes, police forced the front door open and went into the home. Police said they called for someone to respond and that eventually a man, identified as Bell, stated "I'm back here," the report states.
Police ordered Bell out of a bedroom. He was arrested and taken to the county jail.
Inside the same bedroom, police located the 26-year-old woman and her two children, ages 5 and 7. The woman told police she and Bell had argued over money and that he had hit her in the face multiple times with a closed fist.
She told police that after Bell had assaulted her, he ran out of the house, but returned. She stated that Bell came back into the residence, punched her again in the face with a closed fist and forced her into the bedroom.
She told police that Bell locked the bedroom door and would not let her or the children out of room.
Police reported that the woman had minor lacerations on her lips and minor swelling around her mouth.
