WAYNE TOWNSHIP - Harlan L. Noxon, 81, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014, at Burton Health Care Center.
He was born April 28, 1933, in Wayne, the son of Harold J. and Alathea Tinker Noxon.
A lifetime Wayne resident, Mr. Noxon was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army.
He owned and operated Noxon Insurance Agency in Kinsman for many years. He drove school bus for Badger Schools for 25 years. Most recently, Mr. Noxon worked in the summer for Ashtabula County mowing.
He was a longtime member of the Andover Christian Church, where he formerly served as a deacon and was a choir member. He was also a member of the Harry Lees American Legion Post 506, Kinsman, and he served as a firefighter for the Kinsman and Wayne Volunteer Fire Departments.
He enjoyed gardening, camping, golfing, reading and doing crossword puzzles.
Mr. Noxon is survived by his wife, JoAnn Capozzio Noxon of Wayne, whom he married Feb. 24, 1968; daughter, Leann Mercer of Andover; son, Anthony Noxon of Andover; daughter, Rhonda (Rory) Buie of Hubbard; son, Donald (Daveda) Noxon of Wayne Township; daughter, Shirley (Robert) Prim of Nashville, Tenn.; daughter, Sherry Pohlod of Warren; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Evelyn Mathews.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Andover Christian Church, on Stillman Avenue in Andover, with Pastor Robert Gears officiating. Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Burial will follow in Hayes Cemetery in Wayne Township.
