WARREN - Nellie Mae Canty, 77, of Warren, was called home Saturday, July 26, 2014.
She was born Feb. 11, 1937, in Luverne, Ala., the daughter of Dud and Louise Canty.
She was employed at General Electric (Ohio Lamp) for 25 years.
After retirement, she moved to Newport News, Va., in 2009, where she was employed by TJ Maxx for three years before moving back to Warren.
She leaves to cherish her memories two daughter, Jackie (Stephen) Ellis of Warren and Brenda Canty of Columbus; and her son, Bryan Canty of Warren. She will also be missed by her five sisters, Fannie Canty-Parks, Mary Helen Canty, both of Warren, Flora (Sanford) Bonner of Bazetta, Betty Jean Canty and Patricia Canty of Columbia, S.C. Nellie also has four grandchildren, Andre Canty of Warren, Durwyne Canty, Devonne Canty and Tonyelle Canty of Louisiana; and great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, Dud Nelson Canty and Louise Canty-Defour; two sons, Andrew Canty and Anthony Canty; two brothers, Abdul Kareem Jabbaar and Gerald (Jerry) Canty; and one sister, Juanita Farmer.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Triedstone Baptist Church, 143 Griswold St. N.E., Warren, with calling hour from noon to 1 p.m.
