Tue., 2:09pm: Bond set for man charged after chase, standoff

July 29, 2014
Tribune Chronicle

GIRARD -- Bond for a man accused of leading police on a chase, with speeds at times reaching 100 mph, from Fowler to Youngstown on Monday was set at $50,000 during his arraignment today in municipal court.

Vienna police reported that the ordeal started in their township when a neighbor spotted Glenn Fulton breaking into a house on Wilson Sharpsville Road.

Reports state that a neighbor pursued him, tipping off police to the vehicle he was driving. Vienna police stopped him, but he took off, heading south on Route 11. Fulton eventually made his way to a house at 3025 Kiawatha Road and barricaded himself inside, police said. The brief standoff with Youngstown police ended peacefully with no one hurt.

Fulton was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown after complaining of chest pains. He is charged with felony failure to comply with a police officer and several misdemeanors including reckless operation of a vehicle, speeding, traveling left of center and following too closely.

He is due back in Girard Municipal Court on Thursday for a preliminary hearing and pretrials.
