CHAMPION Eugene Glenn Zeigler, ''Gene,'' 80, of Champion, entered peacefully into rest at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2014, at the Trumbull Memorial Health Care Center following a brief illness.
He was born on July 16, 1934, in Bazetta, the son of the late Glenn George and Cora Belle Hake Zeigler.
Gene was a 1952 graduate of Braceville High School and a member of the Leavittsburg Church of God. He was retired from Copperweld Steel after 37 years of service as a stocker in the conditioning department.
Gene was a pilot and enjoyed flying his airplanes and flew 21 makes and types for 30 years. He owned two Cessnas, a Sky Hawk 150 and 172 and enjoyed antique tractors, especially John Deere.
Survivors include his wife, the former Juanita Murphy Harris, whom he married on June 2, 1979; his children, Glenn P. (Tina) Harris of Champion, Cheryl A. (Ronald) Rinzella Sr. of Warren, Sherri (William) Montaleese of Cortland and Leigh Ann (Doug) Click of Leavittsburg; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at the Leavittsburg Church of God, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Officiating will be Rev. James Holbrook.
Burial will follow in Champion Township Cemetery.
