What: Howland Township trustee meeting on Wednesday

Approved a three-year contract with the police, fire and public works departments, which includes a one-year, 3.5 percent increase in wages, effective July 1.
Approved supporting the Golden Triangle Local Technical Assistance application through the U.S. Economic Development Administration and committing 50 percent of the required match for the $76,000 infrastructure improvement grant. The township will provide $9,000 in addition to $1,056 in-kind contributions. The partnership is between Howland, Warren, Trumbull County commissioners and county engineers;
Hired Kimberly Curry as a part-time postal employee at $10.28 per hour with no benefits;
Declared 12 properties public nuisances due to debris and uncut grass and ordering that properties be placed in property maintenance compliance;
Rejected all bids for purchasing vehicle exhaust removal systems in order for the county prosecutor to revise the bid specifications;
Approved placing two police departments vehicles, a 2006 and 2008 Chevy Impalas, for auction on the Internet through LightGov;
Purchased a 2014 Braun Express Type III ambulance at $86,369 through the state purchasing program. The vehicle is needed to update the fleet. The township will borrow the money at 2.5 percent annual interest rate for five years from Middlefield Banking Company;
Hired Terri Kish, Andrew Bickerstaff, Randy Sottlemire, Russell Moser and Larry Manaro as fire and emergency medical service training center instructors at $16.48 for lead instructor and $11.33 for assistant instructor.
