AUSTINTOWN -- A hearing scheduled today for a teen charged with murder in the stabbing death of a 16-year-old girl has been moved to Friday to allow prosecutors to seek indictment from a Mahoning County grand jury for Ricki Williams, 18.
Williams is accused of killing Gina Burger, 16, of Austintown on June 23.
Mahoning County Assistant Prosecutor Ken Cardinal has he is considering pursuing the death penalty against Williams.
Police believe Williams fatally stabbed Burger at a Compass West apartment then concealed her body in a portable playpen, which he placed in a dumpster at the apartment complex. Burger's body was discovered June 25 by workers at a Pennsylvania landfill.
Williams was arrested July 1. A witness told investigators Williams was at her apartment when he stabbed Burger in the chest. The witness stated that Williams then forced her to help him hide the body in the playpen and dispose of it in the Dumpster. She told investigators that she helped him because she was afraid he would hurt her.
