WARREN - John P. Rumancik, 94, of Warren entered peacefully into eternal rest at 6:20 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2014, at the Autumn Hills Care Center in Niles, surrounded by his loving family, following a brief illness.
John was born on May 29, 1920, in Vanderbilt, Pa., the son of the late William and Helen Farkasosky Rumancik.
He had served in the United States Army during World War II as a communication sergeant in the 370 F.A. Battalion of the 99th Division, serving in E.T.O., and was a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge.
John was retired from Van Huffel Tube in Warren, after 43 years of service.
He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, and was an active member in senior bowling and golf leagues.
John was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Warren, where he was an usher and offering counter for many years.
Memories of John will be remembered and cherished by those he leaves, behind, his wife, Virginia Rumancik, whom he married Nov. 29, 1996; a daughter, Patricia (Michael) Psznick of Warren; sons, John R. (Deborah) Rumancik of Southington and Ronald (Patricia) Rumancik of Johnston; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Helen Urban Rumancik in 1993; and brother, Steve Rumancik.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Warren, with the Rev. Thomas C. Eisweirth. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home in Warren, and one hour prior to the services on Friday at the church.
John will be laid to rest in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland, with military honors provided by the Trumbull County Veterans Organization.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material contributions be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, in memory of John P. Rumancik, 3020 Reeves Road, Warren, OH 44483.
