WEATHERSFIELD - Dunkin' Donuts is coming to Weathersfield - and bringing at least 25 jobs with it.
According to White Donuts owner Stew White, his company's 14th franchise location at the Pine Tree Place Shopping Center at the intersection of U.S. Route 422 and Tibbetts-Wick Road is on track for a soft opening on either July 1 or 2, with a grand opening set for mid-July at the latest.
A Canfield resident, White's company also operates Trumbull County franchises on Salt Springs Road in Girard, as well as in Hubbard. White said that his company has also closed a deal to open a Dunkin' Donuts franchise on Belmont Avenue in Liberty in front of the soon-to-be-built Comfort Suites.
White said that the Pine Tree Place store will employ 25 to 30 people, and he is now hiring for all positions. Open interviews are currently being conducted at the Weathersfield location, but White said that applications can also be dropped off at the Salt Springs Road and Hubbard locations. Hiring for the Liberty store will be announced at a later date.
As for the Weathersfield location, White said it was chosen because of the heavy traffic to and from Niles, as well as a lack of current competing options in the area.
The Weathersfield location will be the first of its kind in the Youngstown area, sporting what the company calls its "Fresh Brew" image, which encourages customers to spend more time in their stores. Similar to chains like Panera Bread and Starbucks, the Weathersfield Dunkin' Donuts will offer free WiFi and electrical outlets to go along with more comfortable seating options in the store.
"This is the new prototype design that Dunkin' Donuts is going to be using going forward," White said. "There will be more soft seating in the store, and we'll have a drive-thru that's open 24/7 as well."
