POST HOSTS FLAG RETIREMENT: VFW Post 7200 of West Farmington is hosting a flag retirement for old or tattered flags on Saturday. The flag burning will take place at 7 p.m. at the post home, 6006 state Route 534, West Farmington.
LIBRARY HOLDS KICK OFF: The McKinley Memorial Library in Niles will hold its summer reading kickoff party for children and teens from 6:30 to 10 p.m. today on the library's front lawn. There will be science and art activities, music, a movie and food. The musical group Hey Kid will perform a free concert. The first 50 teens will receive a goodie bag.
FILM SERIES BEGINS: The Summer Film Series begins at 9 p.m. tonight at the Warren Community Amphitheatre. Movies will be shown from 9 to 11 p.m. Tonight's movie is 1931's "Dracula" starring Bela Lugosi.
HISTORICAL?SOCIETY HOSTS AFTERNOON TEA: The Girard Historical Society will host a Ladies' Afternoon Tea at 2 p.m. June 28 at the Barnhisel House, 1011 N. State St. Girard. The program will be presented by Mary Ann Creatore, a trustee of the house, entitled "The Barnhisel Story."
There will be a basket raffle and door prizes. Hats are optional, but there will be prizes for the best hats, with judges secretly walking through the house determining the best entries.

TCAP TO?HOST JOB PROGRAM: Trumbull Community Action Program, 1230 Palmyra Road, Warren, will host a free online job application workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at its Warren West site for area residents interested in applying for a position at the Austintown racino set to open in the fall. The workshop will be part of the 6th Ward community meeting sponsored by Councilwoman Cheryl Saffold.
TCAP staff along with career coaches will be on hand to assist job seekers throughout the application process.
The Robin Elzy Learning Center at TCAP features 21 computers, all of which will be available to those without Internet access. All interested applicants must apply online. Once the online application is completed, candidates can attend the racino job fair scheduled for noon to 8 p.m. June 25 at Stambaugh Auditorium in Youngstown. Approximately 400 positions, both full time and part time, are expected to be available.
