MECCA - Joan M. Rose, 82, died 10:27 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren.
She was born Jan. 13, 1932, in Warren, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Gladys Johnson Simpson.
Mrs. Rose was a graduate of Maplewood High School.
She retired after 18 years of service from General Electric in Warren.
Joan was a longtime member of the Maplewood Booster Club; she also sold tickets at the Maplewood basketball games; she was a member of the Cortland Moose; she loved horses, the outdoors, and loved to farm.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra (Robert) Marto of Mecca; two grandchildren, Matthew Robson of Westlake and Douglas Robson of Mecca; one great-grandson, Lucas Robson of Cortland; and two sisters, Lois Bortmas of Johnston and Betty (Glen) Canfield of Aurora, Ind.
Other than her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Rose.
Graveside services will take place 11 a.m. Saturday at Mecca Township East Cemetery, where family and friends may visit from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Pastor Ron McIlvaine will celebrate Joan's life.
All arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel in Cortland.
