HOWLAND - Sidney W. Brown, 84, of Howland, died peacefully Thursday, June 12, 2014, with his family by his side.
Sidney was born Feb. 1, 1930, in Warren, to Alma and Walter S. Brown.
He was a 1948 graduate of Johnston High School, and also served in the U.S. Naval Reserves for six years.

In 1988, he retired from Packard Electric, where he worked for 38 years as a painter.
Sidney was a member of a Friday night men's bowling league at Kinsman Lanes in Kinsman. He was also a member of the Packard Wednesday night golf league, Forest Oaks, where he served as secretary for many years. He and his wife, Hazel, also belonged to the Forest Oaks Friday night couples league. Together, they also enjoyed traveling.
He is survived by his brother, Christian (Ruth) Brown of Cortland; daughter, Karen (Jerry) Muzyka of Howland; two granddaughters, Natasha (Shawn) Dempsey of Hebron, Ky., and Yelana (Donnie) Sepeck of Batavia; and one great-granddaughter.
Sidney was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel; and a sister, Lois Wolfert Hogan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 45514.
