Former Howland High School pitcher Tanner Scott was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the sixth round (181st overall) of the 2014 MLB Draft.
Reports say that the 6-foot-2, 215-pound Scott throws in the mid-to-upper 90s and will be looked at as a reliever. He held a 2.66 ERA with 76 strikeouts and 45 walks in 61 innings at Howard College.
Scott, a 2012 Howland grad, started his college career at Notre Dame College, but he transferred to Howard (a JUCO school) after his freshman season. He planned on joining Texas Tech University in the fall, but he has other options after the Orioles picked up the hard-throwing lefty.
