ROCKY MOUNTAIN, N.C. - Arthur H. "Art" Winyard Jr., 79, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 24, 2014, in Rocky Mount, N.C.
Art was born Oct. 11, 1934, in Warren, the son of Arthur H. Winyard Sr. and Lyda Kurpan Winyard.
He grew up and spent most of his life in the Warren area. He was a 1952 graduate of Leavittsburg High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
On June 16, 1957, he married the former Nina L. Rudy, and they made their home in Cortland, where they raised their three children.
While living in Ohio, they were members of North-Mar Church, working with the youth group.
He worked at Packard Electric General Motors as a design engineer. Upon his retirement in 1992, after 39 years of service, he and his wife moved to Rocky Mount, N.C., where they were members of the First Baptist Church of Rocky Mount.
Great memories of Art will be carried on by his loving family, his wife, Nina; his children, Lori Winyard of Lambertville, N.J., Dr. Mark (Dr. Colene) Winyard of Lexington, N.C., and Heather (Chris) McCarthy of Woodbridge, Va.; brother, the Rev. Rodney (Jean) Winyard of Leavittsburg; sister, Sandra (Terry) Wolf of Petersburg, Alaska; and three cherished grandchildren, Kate and Sean McCarthy and Jake Winyard.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Art had many interests and was a lover of life.
A private family celebration of his life will be held at a later date in North Carolina.
