CORTLAND - John A. Lacusky Jr., 71, of Cortland, passed away Monday, May 26, 2014, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 14, 1943, in Warren, a son of the late John A. and Margaret Ignatz Lacusky Sr.
He married Karen Byrdy on May 24, 1969.
He was a 1961 graduate of Howland High School, and was employed as a meat cutter at various grocery stores in the area.
John was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves. He was a member of the UFCW Union and SS. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, where he was an usher for more than 40 years.
John enjoyed traveling with his wife, was an avid Cleveland sports fan, and absolutely loved historical vehicles. He also enjoyed Elvis, country music and casinos. John played the saxophone in his fathers' band, Melody Knights.
John was an animal lover and always had a dog. Above all, John enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and wife.
Memories of John will be cherished by his wife of 45 years, Karen Lacusky of Cortland; his three beloved daughters, Kimberly (David) Hannan of Dublin, Jeanine (Brent) Law of Frisco, Texas, and Margaret (Greg) Hudak of New Middletown; loving grandchildren, Hayley, Collin, and Evan Hannan, Joshua and Isabella Law, Caden and Preston Hudak.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael Lacusky, and sister, Barbara Wolfe.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, where the Rev. Andrew Deskevich will officiate. Family and friends may visit from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
John will be laid to rest in All Souls Cemetery, Bazetta.
