Striders extending membership drive through June 9
The Warren Striders Track Club will continue its membership drive for its 2014 Summer Track and Field Development and Training Program through June 9. Membership is open to all Trumbull-Mahoning County participants ages 4-6 through high-school age 18 and older.
Registrations are scheduled Tuesday and Thursday, at the John F. Kennedy High School track, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Practices are currently being held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6 to 7:30 p.m., at the JFK track.
Fees are $45 for a new individual membership, $35 for a renewal, $95 for a new Family Group of three of the same family ($5 for each additional child) and $85 for a Family renewal. An additional $50 uniform package fee (T-shirt, singlet, shorts), yours to keep, will be assessed with new membership registrations. A discount is afforded to all 2013 summer club members and those 2014 Winter Conditioning Sessions participants.

TOPSoccer starting 11th season in Cortland this August
The 11th season of TOPSoccer for special needs children will be held against in Cortland.
The season begins on Aug. 3 and concludes on Sept. 28. The league plays each Sunday from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the old Cortland Elementary School soccer field on Pearl Street.
There are three divisions for play, which include children in wheelchairs, those requiring assistive devices and those who are unable to participate in the typical recreational soccer league.
The $25 includes shirt, socks, ball (for new players) along with practice time and soccer games with experienced coaches and referees.

Vienna club to hold youth fishing derby on June 14
The Fish and Game Club of Vienna will be hosting a Youth Fishing Derby on June 14 beginning at 9 a.m.
This event is open to any youth who is interested in fishing. The club can provide poles if needed. An accompanying adult is necessary. Prizes will be given out. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m.

Lakeview's McDivitt to play volleyball at Capital University
BEXLEY - Caitlin McDivitt, a senior at Lakeview High School, will join the Capital University volleyball program as a student-athlete this fall.
Capital is set to welcome 13 first-year student-athletes, including one transfer, to campus as members of the Crusaders, coach Pam Briggs announced.
McDivitt was a first-team All-American Conference selection this season and a first-teal All-County volleyball selection.
Hubbard Club holding CCW class beginning Tuesday
The Hubbard Conservation Club is hosting a comprehensive concealed carry Ohio license course, which makes one eligible for an Ohio concealed carry license. Classes will begin Tuesday at the Hubbard Conservation Club and range. It is being sponsored by the HCC and the United Veterans of American- Ohio Post No. 7.
Three NRA-trained instructors and range safety officers will be on site.
The course is 12 hours consisting of two evenings of four hours (6 to 10 p.m.) classroom instruction and a third meeting of two hours for Ohio law in class, plus two hours of range time. Classes begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, continuing on Wednesday and completed on Thursday based on student/range availability.
All NRA materials, ammunition, use of target pistols, along with eye and ear protection for qualifying will be supplied at a total cost of $95 per student or $180 per couple.

Ironman Clay Bird Shoot to benefit wounded veteran
The Leetonia Sportsman's Association, along with the Independence Fund, will host an Ironman Clay Bird Shoot to help buy an all-terrain wheelchair for a wounded veteran on July 20. The event will be held on the club grounds at 311 East High Street in Leetonia.
The three events are: 50 bird trap for $15; 25 bird five stand for $5; 50 bird sporting clays for $15; or all three for $30. Prizes will be awarded.

A kitchen will be available on site to purchase refreshments. For shooters and non-shooters there will be a chinese auction, raffles and a 50/50 drawing. Additional events are being planned for non-shooters.
