CORTLAND - Joanne B. Stroup, 82, of Cortland, died Monday evening, May 19, 2014, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
She was born Oct. 12, 1931, in Warren, the daughter of the late Raymond and Helen Burr Hanawalt. She had been a lifetime Trumbull County resident.
Joanne was a 1949 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. She retired in 1988 from Delphi Packard Electric Corp. after 25 years service.
Joanne was an active member of the Four Seasons Garden Club in Cortland. She enjoyed flower gardening and reading, and was an Ohio State football fan and a Cleveland Indians fan.
She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Joanne faithfully volunteered at the National Packard Museum.
Surviving are two sons, David W. (Jolene) Stroup and Jeffrey V. (Lisa) Stroup, both of Warren; four grandchildren, Kyle, Kevin, Caleb and Lydia Stroup; one sister, Kay (Roger) Wilson of Vienna; and one brother, Wayne (Carol) Hanawalt of Mount Joy, Pa.
Her husband of 49 years, Vernon Jeffrey Stroup, whom she married May 18, 1953, preceded her in death Nov. 24, 2002. One daughter, Karen Stroup; one brother, Gene Hanawalt; and one sister, Hope Root, also have preceded her in death.
The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday. Pastor David Vensel will officiate.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.
