GIRARD -- A second person accused of holding eight people hostage over a vehicle dispute at a Liberty home Sunday afternoon was arraigned this morning and placed on house arrest after posting $100,000 bond.
Kenneth E. Macek, 68, of 773 Parkside Drive, Youngstown, is due back in Girard Municipal Court at 10 a.m. June 11 for a pretrial and preliminary hearing.
He is facing 29 felony counts including complicity to aggravated burglary, complicity to kidnapping and complicity to robbery. He is also facing a misdemeanor charge of inducing panic.
Court officials confirmed today that Macek posted the bond set by the court, was released from the Trumbull County Jail and placed on house arrest shortly after his arraignment.
A woman accused of being involved in the incident, Sandra M. Pavelko-Smith, 47, 1670 Everett Ave., Youngstown, was also placed on house arrest after posting her $100,000 bond. She was arraigned on Monday and is due back in municipal court today for a pretrial and preliminary hearing. She is charged with 18 felony counts and six misdemeanor charges including felonious assault, kidnapping and drug possession.
Liberty police Chief Richard Tisone said Monday that an arrest warrant was being issued for Ralph W. Smith Jr., 35, of 234 Seneca St. Youngstown.
