WARREN -- A severe thunderstorm that hit the area tonight brought very heavy rainfall. The National Weather Service in Cleveland issued a flash flood warning for Trumbull and Portage counties.
The warning is in effect until 6 a.m. Tuesday.
Weather officials indicated the slow-moving thunderstorms were bringing rainfall rates around 2 inches per hour.
Reports indicate many area roadways , streams and creeks were getting heavy amounts of water. Officials said even after the storm ends, water runoff is expected to continue overnight and into the morning.
A 911 spokesman said they received calls of storm-related flooding in basements and roadways.
In additon to flooding, Portage County had to deal with tornado warnings issued Monday.
