HARTFORD - Mary L. Taylor Samuels, 84, of Hartford, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2014, after spending six weeks in Florida with her daughter.
She was born Aug. 19, 1929, in Hartford, the daughter of John and Rozemma Phillips Taylor.
She was an active member of the Hartford Community Church, where she had gone her entire life.
Mary was also an active member of Hartford Chapter 518 Order of the Eastern Star, where she was currently serving as "Electa" and had the honor of being a past grand representative in 1990.
Mary enjoyed playing cards as a hobby and played in several area card clubs. In the past, she enjoyed driving the tractor for children's school tours at Hartford Orchards.
She was employed at Jones' Processing in Hartford, Packard Electric and Cleveland Brass.
Her family, to whom she dedicated her life and will truly miss her, are her daughter, Mabel (John) Pelton of Geneva; four grandchildren, Robert (Kay) Hartman of Brookfield, Rebecca (Joe) Valentine of Bergholz, Larry (Robin) Pelton of Fowler and Laurie (Jeff) Jones of Johnston; nine great-grandchildren, Dustin and Katlin Pelton, Kyle and Collette Jones, Winona and Holly Valentine, and Bridgett, Andrew and Robbie Hartman; one sister, Margaret Taylor of Sharpsville, Pa.; very special lifelong friends, Marlin and Phyllis Jones; and her little dog, Betsy.
She was preceded by her husband of 60 years, Phillip Samuels, who departed this earth on March 24, 2007, and their ashes are reunited today and their spirits were on Feb. 22, 2014. She was also preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
Join the family in a Celebration of Mary's life at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at the Hartford Community Church, 3312 state Route, Hartford.
