SOUTHINGTON - Shirley Jean Fridley, 77, of Southington, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital due to complications from dementia, with her family by her side.
She was born Dec. 29, 1936, in Rosemont, W.Va., a loving daughter of the late Luther and Maggie Neff Nutter.
She married Donald W. Fridley Sr. on June 4, 1955, enjoying almost 53 years of marriage to the love of her life before his passing on March 4, 2008.
They enjoyed many weekends with family and friends at Mountaineer Casino.
Above all, Shirley was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother.
Shirley was employed at GE Ohio Lamp for 25 years before her retirement.
Surviving are her son, Donald (Linda) Fridley Jr. of Niles; a grandson, Donald (Sara) Fridley III of Mineral Ridge; and two granddaughters, Tyler Fridley of Lakewood and Rachel Fridley of Niles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald W. Fridley Sr.; three brothers, John Sparks, Gerald Sparks and Buddy Nutter; and a sister, Marjorie Thorp.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where Pastor James Dittmar will officiate. Interment will be in Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Shirley's name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512.
