U.S. Rep. Timothy J. Ryan, seeking a seventh term in Congress, ran away Tuesday with the Democratic party nomination in the 13th Congressional District.
Dave Joyce, the freshman Republican from South Russell, won in the GOP race for the nod in the 14th Congressional District, but in less spectacular fashion.
Ryan won 85 percent to 15 percent over Boardman resident John Luchansky, which sets up a possible challenge for the longtime lawmaker in November against Thomas Pekarek of Cleveland, a Republican who ran as a write-in, provided Pekarek receives 50 write-in votes.
Results for write-in candidates were not available from the Ohio Secretary of States Office Tuesday night.
The tallies in both races are unofficial, incomplete totals. Final results must be certified by May 27.
