THE SECOND ANNUAL ORWELL SPRING FEVER 5K/1-MILE RUN will be held May 10. The event is sponsored by the Country Neighbor Program, Inc. and the Orwell Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary of the Village of Orwell. Registration prior to April 30 is $20 and those runners are guaranteed a T-shirt and a tote bag. For those taking part in same-day registration, the registration fee will be $30 and will have t-shirts available on a first, come first serve basis. The 5K will begin at 8 a.m. and the 1-mile run will begin at 8:30 a.m. with an awards ceremony to follow. Award medals will be given for the overall top three finishers as well as the top three in of the following age groups: 14 and under; 15 to 19; 20 to 29; 30 to 39; 40 to 49; 50 to 54; 55 to 59; 60 to 64; 65 to 69; 70 to 74; 75 to 80; and 81-and-over. THE 2014 MOSQUITO LAKE CHASE 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk To benefit the Maplewood Running Rockets will be held on Memorial Day, May 26 at Maplewood High School. The 1-mile fun walk begins at 8:45 a.m. and the 5k run begins at 9 a.m. Entry fee is $16 for pre-registered runners. Race day entry fee is $20. Waiver must be signed to be registered. Shirts are guaranteed for first 200 registrants. Participants can pick up their packet and check in at Maplewood High located just east of Mecca Circle on Route 88.
