Tribune Chronicle

STUDENTS TAKE PART IN RELAY EVENT: Warren city school students will be taking part in the Relay for Life Raider Regatta at 5:30 p.m. today in the Warren G. Harding Natatorium. The Raider Regatta is a cardboard race that allows students the opportunity to design, build, and race their best ideas in an annual competition. This event allows students to apply the law of physics, Archimedes principle and stem concepts in a real-world situation. Research, design, and conceptual models were constructed by teams of four to eight students. Students in grades 6 to 12 science classes are participating in this event and have sponsored their own boat to race. Goals are to increase STEM awareness, reinforce academic and technology content standards, foster teamwork, and encourage critical/problem solving skills. There will be five categories to place in: best overall design/construction/engineering, team spirit, team theme, pair race and quad race.
