CORTLAND - Bernice R. Lewis, 80, former resident of Howland, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Cortland Healthcare.
She was born on April 5, 1934, in Pine Bluff, W.Va., the daughter of Wilbert and Julia Marie Palmer Quinn.
Bernice grew up in Shinnston, W.Va. She married the love of her life, Henry M. Lewis, on June 30, 1951.
Mrs. Lewis was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She loved cooking for her family and enjoyed bowling, sewing and crafts.
Bernice was a member of Glenn Christian Church.
She is survived by her children, Dianna (Michael) Sanders, Donna (John) Sprague and Darrell (Roxsane) Lewis; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jamie, Rachael, Samantha, Matthew, Ryan and Gianna; great-grandchildren, Evy and Chase; sisters, Wilberta, Nancy, Frances and Sue; and brother, Roger.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry M. Lewis on Oct. 25, 1998; brother, Richard; and sister, Gloria.
Private family services were held.
She was buried beside her husband at Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.
