HOWLAND -- A fire early Wednesday morning has claimed the life of a 52-year-old township man a day after his mother died at the scene of the blaze.
Richard "Ricky" Noble died Thursday morning in the burn unit of Akron Children's Hospital, where he had been flown by helicopter.
A cause of death has not been officially released, but reports indicate Noble was suffering from severe smoke inhalation.
Fire crews were called about 5 a.m. Wednesday to the one-story duplex at 7582 Pegotty Drive N.E.
Naomi Jean Smith, 80, was pronounced dead at the residence before being transported to Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
Howland fire Chief James Pantalone said the blaze originated in a central area of the home where the dining room, kitchen and garage are located.
As of Thursday afternoon, the cause of the fire remained under investigation by the state fire marshal.
