LIBERTY - John Gurnak Jr, 85, of Liberty, died Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at The University Hospital of Cleveland.
He was born Aug. 15, 1928 in Campbell, the son of John and Josephine Wiwiorka Gurnak.
John served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1952.

He was employed as an optician and then went on to work for Youngstown Sheet & Tube and U.S. Steel, retiring in 1980.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Youngstown.
He loved animals, gardening, and spending time with family.
His wife, Rosemarie "Dolly" Gurnak, whom he married Nov. 2, 1968, died Jan. 31, 2005.
He will be deeply missed by his daughter, Angela Mulcahy and her husband, Brian, of South Lyon, Mich.; his son, John, of North Canton; his two grandsons, Caleb and Gavin Mulcahy; his sister, Josephine McGory of San Diego, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Peter Gurnak and a sister, Helen Wittway.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles where the Mt. Carmel Bereavement Ministry will conduct prayers at 7:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles with the Rev. John-Michael Lavelle officiating, preceded by a 9:30 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery where John will be honored for his military service.
