GUYTON, Ga. - Joseph Richard Secich, 89, formerly of Niles, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Effingham County Hospital in Springfield.
He was born Sept. 24, 1924, in Sharon, Pa., the son of Stephen and Mildred Roc Secich.
He served proudly in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the U.S.S. Booth.
He retired from LTV Steel in 1989 after working in both Niles and Cleveland.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed time with family.
Joseph is survived by his two children, Joseph M. (Roberta) Secich of Guyton, Ga., Catherine Ann (Larry) Garlock of Swansboro, N.C.; stepdaughter, Janet Kandrac of Niles; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Michael Krcelic; his wife, Agnes (Cadonic) Secich; his second wife, Anna (Kandrac) Secich; five brothers, Michael, Frank, John, Stephen and Ferdinand Secich; and stepdaughter, Monica Kandrac.
A private graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Stephen Cemetery in Niles. The Rev. Thomas Kraszewski of St. Stephen Church will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the Trumbull County Honor Guard.
