WARREN - Richard W. Rising Sr., 73, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at the St. Joseph Health Center in Warren.
He was born on Aug. 29, 1940, in Warren, to the late Herbert and Ruth McConnell Rising.
Richard graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1958. He married his wife, Susan Wayne Rising, on May 27, 1961.
Richard retired as a firefighter for the city of Warren in 1991, and was the owner of HNR Transport. He was a member of the Carroll F. Clapp Lodge 655.
Richard enjoyed golfing and liked to travel, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Richard is survived by his wife of 52 years, Susan Wayne Rising of Warren; children, Kimberly (Gary) Martini of Vancouver, B.C., Richard (Sarah) W. Rising Jr. of Atlanta and Gregg (Stacy) Rising of Wooster; grandchildren, Brittany Martini, Bethany Martini, Tyler Rising, Cory Rising, Richard W. Rising III, Jake Rising, Reis Rising, Brock Rising and Kendall Rising; and a sister, Janet (Chuck) Stein of Cortland.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Drive N.E.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Bishop David Herron officiating.
Burial will follow in Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.
