YOUNGSTOWN - Forbes magazine today listed Youngstown-Warren area as the fifth best place in America to raise a family.
"The Youngstown metro area is still near the bottom on the national income ladder, but it also boasts low cost of living, short commutes and solid school and crime statistics outside the city proper," the magazine wrote.
The metropolitan statistical area is officially listed as Youngstown-Warren-Boardman.
For family-oriented measurements, the magazine said it omits more volatile year-to-year factors like unemployment rates and weather.
The list was led by Raleigh, N.C., and also included Cincinnati at number 9 and Scranton-Wilkes Barre, Pa., at number 8.
