As I was reading the Tribune Chronicle today, I saw an article that read ''Campaign to save dog in mauling.'' A little 4-year-old boy in Phoenix, Ariz., received injuries to his face that will require months, possibly years, of reconstructive surgeries.
What really caught my attention was all these thousands of people on Facebook, and I'm sure letters from animal lovers across the country, want the dog, Mickey, to be spared execution, or should I say ''euthanization.'' I prefer ''execution'' for what it did to this poor, little 4-year-old boy.
It says supporters say the campaign doesn't mean they value the dog's life above the child's. But an attorney representing the dog says ''the only thing this (euthanization) is going to do is kill a poor, innocent dog.''
Is he serious? A poor, innocent dog! This dog needs to be put down, as one gentleman says, because it could have been his son that was attacked, or someone else's child.
It is absolutely wrong to defend any dog that mauls a little child. Put it down for good so it never happens again to another child.
A trust fund was set up for Mickey, and these people say they are not putting this vicious animal ahead of a child's life?
What is wrong with these people? These people actually see Mickey the dog as the victim. Hey, I love dogs like the next person, even have one. But if my dog even did any harm to a little boy, that dog is going down.
These so-called animal view dogs as their kids, or as a family members. It is a family pet, not a child, not a human being. When people start putting a dog's life over a human life, something is terribly wrong.
So Mickey the dog needs to be euthanized so something like what happened to this innocent, little boy will never happen to anyone ever again.
My prayers go out to this little boy Kevin, who is far more precious than any animal living on God's green earth.
