KINDERGARTEN MAKEUP DATE: The kindergarten registration and enrollment makeup date for children in the Brookfield / Masury area, will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., 1:30 to 2:30 and 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Brookfield Elementary School, 614 Bedford Road S.E., Brookfield.
To register your child, you must bring his / her official birth certificate, social security card, immunization records, the parent's driver's license or Ohio ID, two proofs of residency and proof of custody (if applicable).
AUSTINTOWN REGISTRATION: If your child will be 5 years old by Sept. 30, 2014, and you are a resident of the Austintown Local School District, registration packets are available to be picked up at the Austintown Elementary School, 245 Idaho Road, or at theAustintown Early Learning Center (formerly Lynn Kirk Elementary), 4211 Evelyn Road. If you are not an Austintown resident, you must also apply for open enrollment for the 2014-15 school year by completing the open enrollment application online at www.austintownschools.org.
The kindergarten registration and screening will take place the week of April 28 through May 1, by appointment only. During registration and screening, parents will complete necessary paperwork while your child will work through various stations: vision, hearing, speech, nutrition and learning activities.
LOCAL GIRLS COMPETE FOR MISS TEEN: Local girls were chosen recently to participate in Miss Teen Youngstown / Cleveland / Akron pageant competition that will take place April 13 at the John Hay Campus High School in Cleveland. If any of them were to win the title of Miss Teen Youngstown / Cleveland / Akron, she would represent Youngstown / Cleveland / Akron and the surrounding communities at the national competition that will take place in Orlando, Fla. SOUTHINGTON GIRL HOMECOMING QUEEN: Brittany Sherwood, daughter of Brett and Yvonne Sherwood of Southington, has been selected a finalist for Ohio's 34th annual Homecoming Queen Selection to be held April 13 at the Dayton Marriott in Dayton. Chalker High School's Homecoming Queen, Sherwood will also be competing for Ohio's favorite homecoming queen.
