I am writing in response to a letter that appeared on March 24 titled, ''Kasich makes false claims of creating jobs.''
I have personally heard Gov. Kasich speak many times and have never heard him claim that he ''personally'' created any jobs. What he says is his administration has worked to create a business friendly environment so that private companies will come here and create jobs. In 2013, there were 89,735 businesses created in Ohio the most in state history. (Source: Ohio Secretary of State)
The facts not from the Kasich campaign, but as put out by government agencies controlled by the Obama administration:
(A.) Over the past two years, Ohio has created 238,000 new private sector jobs not new government jobs. (Source: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics)
(B.) Since January 2011, the number of unemployed Ohioans has decreased by 131,000, or 25 percent. (Source: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services)
(C.) Ohio has added an average of 213 private sector jobs per day since Kasich took office. During the previous administration, Ohio lost an average of 242 private sector jobs per day. (Source: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics)
(D.) Since Kasich took office, Ohio is No. 5 in the nation for total jobs created; and No. 1 in the Midwest. (Source: Federal Department of Labor)
As the old saying goes: everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but they are not entitled to their own ''facts.''
