The Trumbull County Sanitary Engineer's Office will begin flushing fire hydrants starting Wednesday, with crews working in Vienna, Brookfield, Liberty, Hubbard Township and parts of Howland. The flushing will take place throughout April.
Customers in the areas may experience temporary discoloration, which is not harmful and should clear within two hours of flushing in the area. If discoloration continues for more than two hours after the crews have left, call the office at 330-675-2775.
Customers should run cold water only until it clears and are cautioned not to wash clothes the day of or day after the flushing crews in the area. Customers may also experience fluctuating water pressures during the process.
Hydrant flushing removes stagnant water, sediment and excessive mineral deposits from the inside walls of the water mains, according to the engineer's office.
