NILES - Paul F. Kovach, 87, passed away at 10:10 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014, at the Hospice House, following a lengthy illness.
He was born June 30, 1926, in Niles, the son of John and Sophie Lastic Kovach.
He attended St. Stephen Elementary School and was a lifetime member of St. Stephen Church.
A veteran of World War II, he honorably served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Aero Services, where he worked as a jet engine maintenance mechanic, and later he was self-employed in the same field.
He was an avid reader with a special interest in the histories of the Civil War and World War I.
Paul is survived by his wife, Marguerite Carl Kovach, whom he married on April 3, 1948; two sons, Paul Martin "Marty" (Kathleen) Kovach of McDonald and Gregory Kovach of Niles; two grandchildren, Alexander Kovach and Gabrielle Kovach; a sister, Dorothy Young of Niles; and brother, George Kovach of Middlefield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary Celeste Kovach; sister, Mary Curtis; and brother, John Kovach.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stephen Church. The Rev. Thomas Kraszewski will be the celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery with military honors provided by the Trumbull County Honor Guard.
