BURTON - James W. Ronyak, 77, of Burton, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at the Cleveland Clinic.
Born Jan. 9, 1937, at Corey Hospital in Chardon to AJ and Effie Craft Ronyak, he had been a lifelong area resident.
He spent his early years in Troy, learning to hunt and fish with his twin brother Bill.
He graduated from Burton High School before attending Case University and The Ohio State University.
His father founded the AJ Ronyak Asphalt Paving in Burton in 1939. James, his twin brother William, and older brother, Dennis, continued the business until his retirement in 1995.
Jim was a member of Burton Congregational Church, Village Lodge F&AM 274 and the Al Koran Shrine in Cleveland.
He enjoyed flying and golf, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was passionate about his work, his employees and running the business.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Sharon Rowland of Burton; daughter, Sherry (Keith) Monroe of Burton; sons, David (Jennifer) of Munson, Scott (Jill) of Burton and Craig of Burton; 12 grandchildren, Jason, Jessica, Jerrod, Ashley, Tommy, Alyssa, Evan, Ian, Mia, Katie, Ashley and Johnny; and many extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dennis and William; and nephew, Jay B. Ronyak.
A casual gathering with friends and family will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. April 6 at the church beside the Welshfield Inn, 13975 Main Market Road (U.S. Route 422), Burton, Ohio 44021.
Private family burial will be in Slitor Cemetery, Burton.
