VIENNA -- The Western Reserve Port Authority voted unanimously this morning to relieve Executive Director Rose Ann DeLeon of her title and duties effective April 15.
The board, which previously had said it would pay DeLeon's health insurance for up to a year, this morning said it instead will pay the premium only through April. Port Authority board chairman James Floyd declined to say what led to the new decision.
DeLeon has been on medical leave since Jan. 16.
The board increased the salary of Sarah Lown, senior economic manager at the port, by $3,500, bringing it up to $68,500 per year. She will take on added responsibility in DeLeon's absence.
Updates will be posted when available. Complete coverage will appear in Thursday's Tribune Chronicle print edition.
