WARREN - Jerry Lee Avery, 70, of 1421 Fourth St. S.W., died at 8:15 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2014, at his residence, following an extended illness.
He was born April 10, 1943, in Birmingham, Ala., the son of Willie Frank Walker and Audrey Buckholter Dowell.
Mr. Avery retired from Ingles Bakery as a baker, and was a member of New Jerusalem Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Velma Yancey Avery; two sons, Marphel C. Avery of Winters Park, Fla., and Jerry L. Avery II of St. Clairsville; two daughters, Vicki Avery of Niles and Jantill Avery of Atlanta; one brother, Pastor Todd Revis of Youngstown; one sister, Libby A. King of Huntsville, Ala.; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Memorial services will be held 11a.m. Thursday at New Jerusalem Fellowship Church. Calling hours will be held one hour prior to service. The family also will receive friends at the family home, 1421 Fourth St., S.W., Apt. 1105 and 303 Russell Ave., Niles, the home of his daughter, Vicki Avery.
Arrangements of comfort were handled by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home.
