BOARDMAN - Joseph Anthony "JoJo" Pignatelli, 78, of Boardman, passed away Tuesday morning, March 11, 2014, with his loving family by his side.
He was born Jan. 14, 1936, on the East Side of Youngstown, the son of John and Lucia Crutelli Pignatelli, and was a lifelong area resident.
JoJo was employed for 33 years with the Teamsters Local 377 and retired as shop steward with City Asphalt and Paving Company in 2003.
He was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish, St. Nicholas Church, where he worked the festival and was chairman for many years of the black jack and card games.
JoJo was an avid sports fan, always rooting on his favorite team, the Cleveland Browns, and was extremely proud of his Italian heritage. He enjoyed going to casinos and socializing with his friends and had a passion for the game of golf.
He will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends for always making his family his biggest priority, his giving personality and his willingness to always give a hand to someone in need.
He leaves behind to hold on to his precious memory his beloved wife of more than 49 years, the former Elizabeth "Betty" Hoza, whom he married on June 13, 1963; two sons, Joseph John (Sherry) Pignatelli and Anthony Stefan Pignatelli, both of Boardman; three grandchildren, Jessica Lynn and Gianna and Gabriella Pignatelli; a brother, Angelo (Lillian) Pignatelli; and a sister, Rose Flask.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Pignatelli, and a sister, Angela Pignatelli.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ Our Savior Parish, St. Nicholas Church, Struthers, preceded by a 9 a.m. prayer service at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman.
